Skills and Staff

Over 120 staff work for the O'Brien Group either at the Gow Street factory or in the Branches. The company has built a highly skilled loyal workforce, with many being employed from school and still with the company today.

The size of the company has meant that there are opportunities for staff to specialise in certain skilled areas, provide a career path for staff, and staff training and induction. This includes the like of experienced engineers, design & input staff (CAD operated), quality control, and specialist machine operators (who manage rather than operate machines as the machines tend to be fully computerised).

Process workers tend to be multi-skilled to enable them to work at different work stations on the production line. This has advantages to both parties in terms of variety of work for the staff member and at the same time, providing the company with skilled cover in the event of staff illness or holidays.
